Completely agreed. There *are* too many variants of the same
idea and, due to historical reasons, many inconsistencies.
So while I don't believe we can have one config mechanism, I do
accept your assertion that we don't need 100 different ones either.
I simply offered a strategy that may work IMO. Namely, collect
current working practices and "galvanize" them through well designed
API's.
BTW: anybody (not just you) know the answer to my (irrelevant) riddle?
