latly universaties went to use britanica's high learning system, this system doesn't work with any other client rather than ie and since it's about to be used as the main school system it would limit the use of linux in universaties desktop and in students home.
ie: here in huji's cs we don't even have windows machines for students which already starting to create problems. and I think less unix lover universaties and department might reconcider install linux or anything else beside windows, which is preety sad especialy now when with open office lyx and wine solved a lot of the barriers people had with using linux. I see 2 ways of action 1) Finding a fs replacement to the high learning system. 2) Convince britanica to support non ie clients 1 - might be nice for universaties/schools which still didn't invest the money and man power for integrating high learning into the system so it might work for schools which check for this kind of system. 2 - sounds like a good solution but I think that high learning uses activeX stuff in their webpage.(anyone can confirm for sure?) and I think it would be hard to make them give up on it in favor for something else. They also deal with big originaztions and not people, so they probebly be harder to pressure in the way of pettions. I think it's highly importent topic cause the way it looks this system might speard to the entire education system, which might create even bigger problem for anyone not using ie bigger problem than hebrew word docs did in the last few years rating non windows users as second class.
