I tired to install the gentoo /unreal 1.4.1 live on a cyrix 300 machine with 256MB RAM and a 8GB HDD .
it went well until i got to the second tar ball and tried to bootstrap the system.
I've been working with the install file that comes with the CD .
i thought at fist that the problem is that the make.conf specified the CPU as a i686 , to i tweaked it to a i586 , both times failed .
i can't provide a text representation since the machine is not installed full and i haven't been able to log in to it ,
in one of the crashes it said the compiler can't compile the system(i686), and in the other (i586) it generated a kernel panic and halted the machine .
Can any one help me understand why it is happening and how can i override this so i can install this machine ?
