I installed it too, and am experiencing the same problem.

I will add that the options that are given (AllowMouseOpenFail, for 
example) are not given with the "option" prefix. Setting "DontVTSwitch" 
in the same format causes the server not to start at all.

I tried it both with and without a framebuffer for the text mode - no 
difference.
