Memory errors? At least back in the old days it used to be that it took a large memory
hungry process to cause the system to access all the physical memory and get hung on bad
parts of it. I think it's still true today (anyone?).

In any case, it sounds more like a hardware problem. I'd also check over-heating or whether
the power supply is large enough, but that would be more relevant if you said that the machine
hung just after being up for a long period, does it?

I had to power down the machine and restart it.
I though maybe new kernel will solve it (and if not it's just going to be fun :-) I took me the all day and like 20 restarts to compile the kernel and still nothing.
Now I have a new machine Celeron 2.6, new disks and FC1 installed and I still having this problem.

Same memory?

Look for memory testting utilities.

There is a dos-based utility to check the memory (I think it's "memcheck", but google around
and you are bound to find it). It should be more thorouogh since it can actually test ALL
physical memory. If you can get a hold of the August Penguine II mini-disc
then it can boot into this utility. Otherwise download it to a floppy or burn a CD with it.

Also - for maximal utilization of your new hardware, it should be worth investigating
upgrading the memory in order to utilize the (probably) faster bus and cpu.
