In the past, I've had trouble installing the Java plug-in, so this time I decided to do a **clean** install. I removed the previous version - j2sdk1.4.1_02 and the symlink in /home/solomon/.mozilla/plugins. I then installed the latest RPM from www.java.com (j2re-1_4_2_04-linux-i586.rpm). After installing the RPM, I followed the registration of java plug-in instructions on http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/manual_install_linux.html. There were 2 possibilities, but neither of them worked for me.
1 - When I run ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so . Mozilla will not start at all. Even when I try to start Mozilla from the command line, there are no error messages. 2 - When I run ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so . Mozilla starts OK and about:plugins reports the plugin to be installed. But when I go to any site that contains Java elements, KDE crashes. my setup is: MDK10.0 KDE 3.2 Mozilla 1.6 I'll be glad to provide any additional info. -- Shlomo Solomon http://come.to/shlomo.solomon Sent by KMail 1.6.1 (KDE 3.2) on LINUX Mandrake 10.0 ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
