Does the 100$/month you mention for a dedicated server actually include the
server rental? Does it include backups? System administration? Fixing problems
without you coming fix them yourself? The answers to these questions are
probably all "no" - and these are things you need to pay for when buying
a non-dedicated hosting solution. You're paying your share of the hardware
costs, your share of the system administration costs, and so on.
