Don't know what you set for the font, what works for me is:

\screen_font_roman "Times New Roman"
\screen_font_sans "Arial"
\screen_font_typewriter "Courier New"
\screen_font_encoding "iso8859-8"

(Could be that you set only one type of font and hebrew is using
another?)
