I'd first start with asking for aequate drivers for windows... ATI write the worst crap ever. I prefer a spec publication and a community driver. just to give an example - Windows has a facility for ICC color profiles which I need for photography (sorry people, GIMP doesn't cut it for me. yet.) I bought a color caliberation "spyder" from colorvision for a good $200 but later discovered that modern ATI drivers override the ICC feature in the windows diaplay chain or whatever it is called. older drivers did not override screen profile settings, but those are no longer available or supported or even work on XP. what's worse is that a photographer friend of mine went into debts to get an HP Pavillion laptop with all the goodies, only to discover he is stuck with a radeon chipset and an ATI driver he can't caliberate (and the images DO appear with completely different contrast and even hue from a well-caliberated desktop screen). in my book, any drivers that were not written by ATI are better... -- Mister sensitive Ira Abramov http://ira.abramov.org/email/ ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
