From: Nadav Har'El If you're willing to relax the request for an "X server", and merely request that you can view on Windows graphical applications that are running on a remote Linux machine, VNC is an excellent solution.
I know what VNC is. I was actually looking for a "real" X server as a single Windows application - as small and effective as it could be, without much dependencies and the one that will present me with {x,k,g}dm prompt. Ideally, it will take no more than 1.44 Mb. Putty comes to mind as example of such application (and BTW can be used for securing the above server). X Server from Cygwin is just too big..
