Since you have to open an incoming connection as well (for example port
6881 should be open or forwarded though your firewall) I don't think
that you will gain much with bit torrent.

Does your FW blocks outgoing connections to 6969? Note that most BT
trackers use non standard ports.

Maybe you can try your ISP isp proxy.

i am trying to download fc3 via bittorrent.

the problem: my fiirewall (which is not under my control) blocks port 
6969, and i do not have an http proxy.
however, other ports are open for outgoing connectrion via nat (but not 
6969).

the --minport <port> switch does not influence the port used to connect 
the tracker, only the peers.

so:
1. how can i overcome the connection problem (without using a proxy)
2. is there a proxy which will let me use it altghouh i am not it's 
costumer ?
