Is this for one person to run the whole shop or one of a team of 3 or 4? 100 Linux machines is an awfully lot for one person to run unless there they are identical and there is NO user support. > I am looking for a person with strong technical skills, several years of > experience (preferably in both system administration and development), > and the ability to communicate with users and to respond to their needs > and questions. So are a lot of other people. What they get is applications from "script kiddes" and junior sysadmins. > Salary for an engineer with suitable qualifications will range between > 15,000 and 18,000 shekel per month (at this salary range, an academic > degree is highly desirable). At this salary range all you will get is a "script kidde". I would consider it as a "GOOD" (Get Out Of Debt) job if it were in Jerusalem, half time, and without restrictions on what I do the rest of the time, or unrelated IP rights, but I think from the tone of the posting you want a full time person who will sign that they will do no other work or develop IP outside of the company. I also would be unlikely to apply for the job as the last company I worked for who was cheap on sysadmins was also cheap on software licenses and thought that it was ok for their most important developers to have three year old machines. But to be fair, they did have good munchies in the lunch room, free espresso and gave good parties. > > (this is a repost, but we were not able to hire people who have applied > after the first posting; we are supplying now more information about the > position, in the hope that more people will apply :-) Or in plain English none of the people who wanted the job were qualified. I have been developing business plans for high tech companies for the last two years, and IMHO the minimum people needed to support a company of that size would be 2-3 sysadmins, and if you have an outside web presence a web admin.
