My brother wishes to begin and donate to a large opensource project in
order to get some free work experience after finishing his BA, and for
fun. However as he's new to opensource and as a fresh graduate, new to
programming of "real-life" large scale projects he needs someone to
mentor him, that is, help him to choose a project he'll be able to
donate to, being availible to help with obnoxious issues google can't
easily find a remedy for, point to a relevant FAQs etc.
I understand most of the list attendees have curved their path on their
own in the opensource world and are almost 100% autodidacts, however my
brother is not such a big autodidact and without proper guidance I'm
afraid he'll be drowning in the ocean of information on the internet. I
think it is a small effort for the mentor (you don't have to do almost
anything, I assume that 10 hours will be the total time wasted upon
mentoring at all.) and it may give us another opensource programmer (I
think after he'll get the hang of it he'll continue donating to
opensource programs).
Anyone interested is requested to call me at 0544-967784. I apologize
for omitting my name, this is due to backups of the list cached
somewhere and I don't wish anyone to associate my name to this phone number.
