A difficult thing to do. This is due to several things: 1. WiFi was illegal here until October 2003. All of the "oldie but goodie" cards were never sold here, for example, the Orinoco cards and their clones. These are well supported by linux. You can still get them new in the U.S. 2. Manufacturers change chipsets without changing model names and numbers. For example I have some D-LINK DWL-G122 USB dongles that are supported well under windows and MacOS and I think linux (MacOS and Linux by the chipset manufacturer, I'll look for them and check it out). BUT There is another version of the same dongles (the revision letter is different, I have B, A is an Intersil Prism*) that have a completely different chipset in them and may not be supported under linux. http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm Lists their drivers. I bought mine from D.A. Tech (www.datech.co.il) and they still sell them, however a phone call to check the revision level of their stock would be prudent. I can spare one for a week or two if you are in Jerusalem and want to borrow it. * Again the re-use of names. The Intersil Prism chipset in the DWL-G122 revision A is not the 11mHz Prism that is supported under Linux. I have no idea if there are drivers for it or not. The best results I've had were with a white USB dongle from EDIMAX. Office depot and the Bug Shoppe sold them. They worked with very little fuss with 2.4.19 and later kernels. I assume they are long gone and can only be found in junk bins and laptop cases. Geoff. -- Geoffrey S.
