If I got an MS Word resume, I always ran strings against it. From there I found out who licensed the copy of Word, and the template they used, if any. If they used a "Microsoft Word Resume Template" (there were several), I discounted them. You could also tell by looking at it. While it no longer seems to help with the newer generation because there are so few, I always gave preferences to any one with a ham radio license. The last person I wanted to employ was someone who did it for a "job" and would not even think about things outside of work. It's difficult here due to the low salaries and the herd mentality fostered by the army and the whole psychometric testing racket. IMHO if you find a person who seems interesting and sends you an M/S Word resume, you could always send them an email and ask for a text copy. They may simply have never used a word processor and got a friend or payed someone to write a resume for them. I would also ask for a resume in English, not only because I can't read one in Hebrew, but if someone is supposed to work with anything Internet related (which Linux falls into) they need to be able to read and write English or they will never be able to fully do their job.
