Well, lucky you; this is highly drive-specific. >From what I gather, when the region doesn't match many drives will still send the raw encrypted data to the host computer, and libcss can indeed easily decode that. But some other drives (e.g., many Matshita models) will send fake junk data instead, so the software can't do anything. (Disturbingly, IBM^H^H^HLenovo uses such Matshita drives in some high-end ThinkPads. So if you want to use your ThinkPad to watch movies on both sides of the Atlantic, better buy another $300 drive.)
