Hi,

I am trying to evaluate the pros and cons between an Asterisk system
and BezeqCall's IP Centrex.

There is little very little technical information on IP Centrex (other
then the marketing fliers). It's service based (10-25$ per
user/month), You get an Ethernet port to which you connect your switch
and IP phones.

I feel more comfortable with an Astrix based solution, but the return
on investment for an Asterisk based system vs. IP Centrex for 8 users
is about 48 months.

Has anyone had any experience with IP Centrex and can compare it to an
Asterisk box.

Thanks

There seems to be some misunderstanding about my calculations, so here goes:

1. Asterix server - based on two quotes I got, including hardware, 4
ptsn ports and labor is about 3,500$ (I can probably do it myself, but
that's still labor). To this we add 3-4 Bezeq lines (~10$ month). To
this we add ~20% yearly support contract.
3500+(36*10)+(3500*0.20*2)=5260

BTW, this is more or less equivalent to regular PBX systems of the
same size, in which case Asterix is more attractive, as it is more
scalable.

2. IP Centex - 85$ per month for 8 users, 3 dialouts. No bezeq lines,
since this is included in the service.
85*36=3600

I will not go into what-if scenarios, as It is quite clear Asterix
scales better financially IF there is growth in the number of users.

Technically Asterix provides the following befits (which for the
client are not considered musts at this time):
* SIP dialin and dialout
* Remote users (home and roaming users using VPN)
* integration with other applications

Where IP Cenrex is OSS or proprietary is not an issue, since it's a
service (BTW, it based on proprietary software...)

My questions is: Has anyone enough experience with the IP Centrex
service to compare it with Asterix in terms of quality, rather then
feature?
