The reference adapter has no screws. I assume it is held together either by glue or plastic welding. Either way - I am reluctant to open it up.

It is heavy. It obviously has a coil based transformer inside. It's the bits I'm interested in, the current limiting components, that do not weight much, I'm afraid.
