I'm not sure whether I'd be considered part of the cabal or not, but here's my opinion, for what it is worth:
IMHO, general questions about android are okay. Specific questions about rooting and operating are okay as long as they don't take too much of the list's traffic. Programming questions (which are okay if they are on Linux) are off topic, unless they relate to the Linux aspects of Android.
Again, just my opinion, and I offer it mostly to foster discussion so we can reach a consensus.
