I suppose if /root goes, then it should not matter much, unless
you mean to say / instead of /root. AFAIK /root is mostly empty in all the
major distros I know of.
The simplest solution is to just remake the /root and may be copy
whatever is there in /etc/skel to /root. That should be enough.
