Check the frequency settings for the monitor
that you gave Xconfigurator.

Your video card is using a frequency that
will not be accepted by your monitor (it
may be too high). Some monitors are designed
to "switch off" in such cases to avoid damage.

Use xf86config and enter the values using
the data from your monitor manual.
Or just edit /etc/X11/XF86Config and change
the values.
