I am Madhesh, a relative newcomer to the linux world. Recently, I installed
Redhat Linux 6.1 on my system to dual boot Windows and Linux.
Linux does not detect my soundcard. When I run sndconfig, I get an Error
message: Segmentation Fault: Core Dumped. Windows on the other hand has
detected the sound card.
I am having lot of problems with the X-term. Initially I could not see
anything.. THen I changed the background and foreground colours to get the
windows. But, then the characters are very distant from each other and also
when I type clear, the window does not get cleared. I have tried Ctrl +L, but
to no avail. Sometimes, repetitious characters occur. I tried redirecting my
cat command output to a file and when I opened that file, I found the same
repeting characters problem.
Please help. I would appreciate it at a lot if someone could mail me a
solution as quick as possible.
