[LIH] fetchmail doubts

Hi 
I have a couple of doubts about fetchmail.

1. If I use fetchmail so that it can deliver to the local SMTP
   port, will I need to configure sendmail so that I can send
   mails out ? I think I will have to, right.

2. can fetchmail fetch mails faster than say Netscape's mail pop3
   client ?
