Hi Gerry,

Unfortunatly there is not tool like "sndconfig" in SuSe. You have to edit
/etc/conf.modules to enable the module of your sound card. Check that file to see if
you sound card is supported and uncomment the lines to enable the kernel sound modules.

I have got a Creative Ensonique PCI sound card which runs excellently under SuSe 6.3.
SuSe 6.3 comes with alsa sound drivers. Does using alsa sound drivers and enabling
modules in /etc/conf.modulesis the same ? Can anybody clarify ?

Under Red Hat 6.1 I was unable to play midi files with my sound card. But under SuSe
6.3 midi filesrun beautifully and infact give better output( all instruments ) than
windows. I am very happy withwhat I hear.

Regarding your second question. Please specify which printer you are using so that we
will be able to help you. You will have to use YaSt in SuSe to configure printer.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Rajesh
