hi LI
one year back, i was working on translating a piece of fortran-code to c
that piece of fortran-code was part of the chunk used by mausam bhawan to
predict mausam(!) which they were running on a cray. we were doing that
exercise for pure academic purpose( my purpose was pure selfish, to pass
that course) the c-code worked fine on linux machine, but took a lot of time
in computations(machine was pII), we didn't have fancy things like SG octane
etc.
but we had a lot of machines(~10).so somebody suggested using message passing
interface (mpi) to work the same code on n-machines. i had no idea of mpi, but
people in CDAC apparently were doing this mpi thing. CDAC people were busy at
that
time with their conference( some parallel progm. conf. last june probably)
so that idea remained an idea for us. now i have time, energy, and that code
but still no idea how that code can be worked on n-machines. if any of u is
doing
this kind of thing, and can provide the right pointers/suggestions, i would be
very
grateful.
