Please dont say that atleast in front of RMS! ;-)
MINIX was an independant project which costed $ for
private use, and given off free to universities, for
educational purposes, to teach students OS concepts of
the traditional UNIX system. Linux and MINIX have
different architectures, and i am NOT arguing which
one is better... ;-)

Its not that MINIX wont work on the >386 machines, its
just that Linux uses the optimisations provided by the
>386 machines, and the kernels are totally different,
Linux being the better version. But the since MINIX
served as a sort of a guidance to Linus, i think it
should be given due credit. Hey! comp.os.minix, has
the word "Minix" in it, and thats where Linux leaped
ahead! ;-)
As for Linus being our father... wel... uhm... i
think Linus being a father of Linux is pretty
justified... but we being his children, really tinkers
with my mind... ;-)

However, this thread has gone, as thaths puts it,
"waaaay OT", so we might as well continue it on LIP.
Please dont reply here...

Nikhil.
