I tried AbiWord and liked it. However, some features (at least in the beta
that came with PCQ) are broken and cause it to dump core if you try to use
them. Try forcing a page break at some point, for example.
I've since switched to Corel Word Perfect 8 - and it works like a dream -
even saves docs in all kinds of formats (including M$ word format if someone
is ass enough to want it) :)
