I *don't* have a TNT2, but there are a few things u could do in 
general to get better speeds than 1fps...
1. Turn off GLX extensions
2. Turn off vertex lighting
3. Turn off multitexture
4. Turn off polygon detail

Also, try to insmod the tdfx driver outside X, it increases 
speeds...And try not to look into the fogs, atleast the red ones, 
they slow down Q3 like anything on my Voodoo3(sigh)
You could also do chmod +s /usr/local/games/quake3/quake3 to give it 
all the CPU power it needs...

It would be great if someone puts all the permutations and 
combinations to test and puts up a page about the pitfalls and the 
success stories in some sort of a HOW-to..BTW, Nikhil, can the 
UtahGLX work with a V3banshee
