Good morning everybody,
I was just installing SuSe (Chip CD) and during the LILO
installation she (linux) told me that I could only install LILO on a
partition which has the /dev directory on it. Well this obviously means
that it can only be installed on / as /dev and / have to be on the same
physical partition AFAIK. I'm not sure, but does the same restriction
apply to RedHat also??? Anyone else faced the same problem with
redhat/suse???
In fact I came across with the problem b'cos I installed linux
with 2 HDD's with /usr on the primary master and with / on the secondary
master. I cannot install LILO on the MBR as my Quantum disk manager sits
there. LILO is my ONLY boot loader and that according to her cannot sit on
/usr due to the /dev restriction...
Now eventhough SuSe is installed, LILO isn't (this is from the
installer). So I could try booting from floppy and manually editing
/etc/lilo.conf to get the required config...
Meanwhile any help on this would be of great use... Also is it
possible to have LILO on the extended partition that I have on the primary
master???
Thanx in advance.
Bye ... Narain.
