check if the motherboard is of intel or not. if it is
of intel, then
the
17G hdd will be detected as an 8.4G hdd only. u wont
be able to address
the
rest of the hdd space which is a lot of space
actually.
I've run a 17 gig hdd on a VIA mobo, Intel 810 clone
mobo, original i810. I've got some machines even dual
booting. i think u're friend's BIOS is messed up. i
think LBA isn't enabled. Intel mobos are pretty kewl.
As for the DVD, i think the Creative DXR is _really_
kewl. For a video card, IMHO S3's the best for 2D, and
for 3D there's no better than Voodoo3 now. But if u
wanna wait a month more, go for a V4 or a V5, if u're
seriously into 3D.
btw, i know this is OT, but is there someone from SGI
here?
