        If ur priority is compiling huge code and tarballs to suit ur 
taste, faster disks would be an asset....why don't u go in for a SCSI 
rather than a IDE?? Then there will be no probs with disk size, et 
al...and of course, speeds will be great....no amount of hdparming 
can raise any IDE to the level of a SCSI.
