hi dudes,

This might work (tested on SoundMax and generic i810(?)).

1. Download -
ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-0.5.7.tar.bz2

2. Unzip and untar alsa-driver-0.5.7.tar.bz2
3. CD to the alsa-driver src directory
4. Run ./configure --with-cards=intel8x0
5. make;make install
6. Add the foll lines to /etc/conf.modules

alias char-major-116 snd
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-intel8x0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss

7. run depmod -a

That's it.
