You have not given the distro you are using. In RH6.1, while installing
even if you have given the win9x partition as /win, it is not
automatically created. You have to do mkdir /win.
second you should include the line 
/dev/hda1       /win    vfat    defaults        0       0
in /etc/fstab file.
reboot and then you will can access /win.

once you are able to access the files, you can also install.
