Hi All,
After modifying NET_ALIAS_MAX_SLOT in /usr/src/linux-2.0.0/include/linux/net_alias.h
(as explained in IP aliasing HOWTO), I could add more than 256 virtual i/f's. But I
face another problem now; I am unable to ping this newly added virtual interface :-(
Here is the ifconfig o/p:
:~/sb/sim# ifconfig eth0:256
eth0:256 Link encap:10Mbps Ethernet HWaddr 00:80:C8:00:6A:37
inet addr:192.168.115.1 Bcast:192.168.115.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:256 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
Somebody suggested that the IP addr should not be a class C. But it is allowed.
Please help if something else also needs to be done other than modifying the kernel.
TIA,
Sateesh.
