Hello Everybody,
I have a socket 70 motherboard with Pentium 166MMX
processor and 16 MB SIMM EDO RAM. The board also has
one SDRAM slot. Recently i got 64MB SDRAM and tried
to put it in the system, but the system did not
recognize it. But, while booting, in the hardware
description table part, it shows that SDRAM in Slot
3. But, the memory test is for the old 16MB only.
Will the SIMM and SDRAM co-exist together.
I also removed the SIMM chips and tried booting with
the new RAM, but the system did not boot itself.
I checked the RAM chip on my friend's system
(Pentium Celeron) and it is working fine.
Is there any other jumper settings on the board or
BIOS settings to be made (i am using RH 6.1 and
WIn95).
Unfortunately, i have no idea of the exact model of
the motherboard..
Since, i have already purchased the RAM, i am at a
loss now. Please help.
Thanks
Madhesh
