The windows based softwares can be used through WINE but some times it
isn't possible if the softwares use MFC and activeX controls and ....
So the answer is those can be tried with WINE but the performance would be
bad.

Sure. I am thinking of development of the Web interfaced solution in which
the knowledge of simple browser (netscape or ....) is enough. I hope that the
web interfaced software will be more easier to learn than any windows
based softwares.

Sure. Linux always out-performs Windows-NT. Linux is also free and not too
much resource hungry. As the servlet/rdbms based software is going to be
designed, the multi user environment related concurrency problem will be
resonably
resolved without and hassel.

I will suggest u to use Linux server as well as Linux nodes. This is b'use it
will
reduce ur cost of ownership. If u plan for Windows based nodes then it would
be costly as u have to buy Windows for each of the nodes where one free Linux
distribution will do all for u. I will suggest u to use RedHat6.1. (no flames
please
for this recommendation) I would personally try to optimise it for the best and
secure performance.

Nothing to be grateful as the community should be grateful to u as u are doing
all these for the noble cause. (as I got to know from Vilash)
Thanx
