You might also want to checkout if your pppd options file contains the
option "defaultroute".
Also if the default DNS you specified was 202.54.1.30 (dns.vsnl.net.in),
it was down the whole day yesterday - (Also the vsnl.com domain which
wasn't even resolvable ! So haven't received any mails from the list
since yesterday noon).. So your problem may solve itself once the
nameserver starts working !
