and i could tell suresh to go read so-and-so's critique of
Tolkien that exposes how social and cultural prejudices go
into the representation of 'evil' before so naively bandying
about words like troll. but i won't. and that is the point.
what can be my area of expertise may only be of passing
interest to somebody else. all i am saying is try to be a
little sympathetic to people who are trying to learn things
outside their main area of interest. for most people a pc is
just a means to getting other things done. the point, again,
is, has linux got anything for people who don't want to
spend a whole night compiling kernels just to hear an mp3
song? and if the established linux community members don't
have the patience for such people, linux will stay where
unix has for the last four decades. with all its howtos and
manpages. insulated behind elitist, academic walls.
think about it. no need for plinks and plonks here.
regards as ever, subash.
