2 ways:
1)if u already have the X running, then edit the 'XF86config' file
under        /etc/X11
  go to the "screen section " 'n set the mode u want!

2)run XConfigurator 'n in the setup process select the screen resolution
to suit u'r needs(800 x 600, should be just fine, i suppose!)
