Boot Linux. Even if X server does not start, it should drop yo into 
the shell. Edit the /etc/inittab file and change the run level from 5 
to 3. The file is pretty well commented so you should know what to 
do. 

Rajesh Fowkar(on LIH) has a link as to how he configured X on 
SiS6215. But, try to upgrade to XFree 4
