 aseem i think u have got a lot of solutions for
autodetection. as for installing ur network card
follow the foll. steps -
1. first of all see if it is autodetected. if yes then
u can go to netconf (assuming that u r using redhat) &
there u can assign the ip add. & other things on ur
lan card.
2. the other situation is that if it doesn't
autodetect, then again u run netconf & then specify
the driver of ur card there, then do all the necessary
configurations.
3. in both the above cases after foll. the the steps,
please restart ur network services by issuing the
foll. command /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart.
if the services are started perfectly, then Hail
Presto !! ur config. is ok & u can go ahead.
