sure. it solved the problem. i have recently installed a new ram. the
system was giving memory test fail in the bios startup. when i removed
this memory(32MB) and used the only orginal 32MB , the linux booted up.
thanks a lot.

    the new memory is of 100mhz, does the combination of 100 and 66 run
fine.
i have a amibios which does not support harddisk more than 8GB. can i
write new code into the bios(flash) do i need to have some special
hardware to do so.
