Probably because the message was multipart/alternative, as opposed to
multipart/mixed, which is the usual way of sending attachments. And
there was no text/html part in it, so probably Majordomo let it get
through. And I think Majordomo2 is probably broken in this regard,
because it added the footer as another part in the
multipart/alternative, where each part is meant as an alternative
version of the same information, thus resulting in (some) mail clients
displaying only the last part (the footer)!
