I am using wvdial to connect to my ISPs. I have accounts with VSNL,
DishnetDSL and Satyam. I will give you a sample wvdial.conf file.

[Dialer Defaults]
Baud = 115200
Init = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 X3 L3 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 S7=30 S11=55
Dial Command = ATDT
Modem = /dev/ttyS0
[Dialer vsnl]
Phone = 172222
Username = your_loginid
Password = your_password
[Dialer eth]
Phone = 172341
Username = your_loginid
Password = your_password
[Dialer satyam]
Phone = 172306
Username = your_loginid
Password = your_password
----------------------------------------------------
You can connect by using commands ..
wvdial vsnl (or) wvdial eth (or) wvdial satyam and connect to respective
ISPs.
Check this.
