I install linux and windows on a regular basis for desktop use and prefer
Linux anyday. With the anaconda setup in RedHat 6.2 everything gets done
efficiently and in a highly customisable manner.Once you've set up the
tartget drive and selected packages it's a breeze. You can leave the machine
unattended till installation is over.Press enter and voila your cd is
ejected and system reboots. With windows one has to mess around with typing
in serial numbers etc and responding to silly dialogs that can come up any
time even during the file copying process. As for hardware support - the fact
that linux can be installed for a useful purpose an any machine from a 386
to a host of Pentium class machines and beyond into IBM Mainframes means
that Linux definitely does support hardware. It definitely pays for a linux
user to know and choose good hardware though to optimise his system.
Regards,
Dayalan
