Do you have rsh daemon running on the machine on which you want to login.
Check the /etc/inetd.conf and see if the lines for shell and login are
uncommented on that machine.

Do you mean IIT kanpur? I think some machines were denied rlogin access
earlier (maybe including sunws). I remember trying it on some linux m/c's
a year back. Now they support it.
