Hi Shanker,
I have got a working squid on my SuSE 6.3 partition. The cache_dir is /var/squid/cache.
UID/GID are squid.
Now in Red Hat 6.2 partition also I have installed squid and to share the above cache,
I have changed cache_dir in /etc/squid/squid.conf to
cache_dir /mnt/SuSE/var/squid/cache 100 16 256
where /mnt/SuSE is the SuSE 6.3 mount point.
Now the problem is after mounting SuSE partition the UID/GID of squid directory
changes to
some number such as 12.150 instead of squid.squid as was there when I boot in SuSE.
Secondly when I try to start squid I get the following error :
<SNIP>
[root@rajesh] /etc/squid# /etc/rc.d/init.d/squid start
Starting squid: squid
FATAL: Unknown cache_dir type '/mnt/SuSE/var/squid/cache'
Squid Cache (Version 2.3.STABLE1): Terminated abnormally.

Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 176
[root@rajesh] /etc/squid#
<SNIP>
What am I doing wrong here ? Anybody there ? Please raise your hand.
Thanks in advance.
Rajesh
