Hi Robin,
I checked on both systems ( Suse and Red Hat ) from UID/GID of user squid
they were not same hence I changed the UID/GID of user squid on Red Hat
(since my SuSE squid works perfectly). I created a link as follows :
ln -s /mnt/SuSE/var/squid /var/spool/squid
My cache_dir = /var/spool/squid/cache
But still on Red Hat when I start squid I get the following error :
<snip>
[root@rajesh] ~# /etc/rc.d/init.d/squid start
Starting squid: squid
FATAL: Unknown cache_dir type '/var/spool/squid/cache'
Squid Cache (Version 2.3.STABLE1): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.020 seconds = 0.010 user + 0.010 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 176
[root@rajesh] ~#
<snip>
Has anybody tried this kind of stuff ? Robin have you done this kind
of stuff suceessfully.
Waiting for your replies.
Rajesh
Robin Chatterjee saw fit to inform LI that:
>uid gid of squid user must match across the two systems. use id sqid on
>both to find out the actual values...
