The original poster mentioned accessing mail from a windows client!
Better check if the mail is being downloaded to the Linux machine. If
it isn't, Suresh has given the solution.
If it is, use that standard windows solution of reinstalling
windows/mail client. Don't bother reinstalling Linux, that won't be
necessary.
