Please check if you have installed the pop3 server.
You can do something like
$telnet localhost 110
If the pop server is intalled you will see something similar to
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain.
Escape character is'^]'.
OK POP3 Welcome to IDS POP3 Server Version 0.9.1
If you do not get a similar message then install the pop3 server from the
Linux CD or download or search for one on freshmeat.net
